Energy Cleansing at Home & Resetting Your Field
Your personal energy field is a dynamic space influenced by your environment, other people, and your own emotional and mental state. Regular energy cleansing helps you reset your field, release unwanted energies, and establish healthy energetic boundaries. This supports your wellbeing and clarity.
Why Cleanse Your Energy Field?
Just as you would wash your body or clean your home, cleansing your energy helps remove accumulated negativity, stress, or energies that do not belong to you. This practice refreshes your spirit, helps maintain emotional balance, and strengthens your energetic boundaries to protect your wellbeing.
Simple Daily Practices for Clearing Your Energy Field
1. Water Drip Cleansing
Water has long been used in various cultures for purification and healing, I was introduced to it through my middle eastern lineage. To Water Drip Cleanse, lightly splash or pour clean water over your third eye (between your eyebrows), crown chakra (top of your head), and wrists. As you do, visualize the water rinsing away tension, negativity, and energies that do not serve you, draining into the sink in front of you.
2. Body Sweeping
Stand or sit comfortably and set a clear intention to remove any energetic cords, attachments, or influences from others. Using your hands or a soft cloth, sweep downward from your head to your feet, then across your body moving your left hand in a sweeping motion down to the right side of your body, sweep off everything from your arms to your ankles. As you’re doing so, imagine dusting off and away all energies that aren’t yours and sending them back into the ether or light.
Daily Practices for Clearing and Charging Your Home
1. Use Sound to Clear Space
Before using any scents, you can clear energy with sound. Traditional singing bowls, bells, chimes, or other instruments create vibrations that help break up stagnant energy and raise the vibration of your space. If you use singing bowls or bells, please consider purchasing these instruments directly from small businesses or artisans connected to the cultural communities from which these tools originate.
2. Open the Windows
Fresh air helps move stagnant energy out of your space. Open your windows to invite renewal and circulation and use your arms (if you’re able to) sweep out old energy.
3. Smudging and Incense
Smudging with sage, palo santo, or other traditional incense has roots in Indigenous and other cultural practices as a way to purify and bless spaces. Use these respectfully and with intention. Whenever possible, purchase your smudging materials directly from Indigenous or local small business owners connected to these traditions to support their communities. For example, the Native Centre for Toronto sells Sage and Palo Santo for an affordable price. They also have this great article on how to sage. As you allow the smoke to drift through your home, especially into corners and entryways, set an intention to clear unwanted energies and invite peace and balance.
4. Use Music and Sound Daily
Playing music or instruments daily helps maintain a high vibrational environment in your home. Sound supports ongoing energetic cleansing and promotes a vibrant, harmonious space. Some of my personal favourites are: Dianna Lopez, Malte Marten, and Chantress Seba.
Setting and Maintaining Energy Boundaries
Clear Intentions
Be mindful about what energies you allow in your personal and home space. Setting intentions is a powerful energetic boundary.Regular Practice
Energy cleansing is most effective when done consistently, whether daily or weekly depending on your environment and needs.Self-Care Integration
Pair your energy cleansing with grounding practices such as meditation, breathwork, or Reiki to deepen your energetic balance.
By integrating these practices with respect and cultural awareness, you create a clear and vibrant energetic environment for yourself and those you share space with. Energy cleansing is an act of self-care and respect for your wellbeing and the traditions behind these practices.
